Let’s End Domestic Violence Together: SVA serving the community for 40 years!

Southern Valley Alliance Celebrates 40th Anniversary

Southern Valley Alliance has been serving the communities of Carver and Scott counties for 40 years, providing essential services for those experiencing domestic abuse in our community. In the early 1980s, victims of domestic violence in Carver and Scott counties had nowhere to turn for help. To fill this void, a local woman who had experienced spousal abuse joined with community volunteers to raise awareness and offer support services. They established Southern Valley Alliance (SVA) in 1982.

Today, SVA continues to be the only nonprofit domestic violence agency located in Carver and Scott counties. Since its founding, the organization has assisted more than 22,000 individuals as they try to live healthy, violence-free lives.

On average, more than 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men in the United States will experience some form of abuse in their lifetime. While we would like to think it doesn’t happen in our community, the unfortunate truth is that domestic violence is present everywhere. Last year, SVA assisted 817 victim survivors in our community with programs and services that include our 24/7 free and confidential crisis line, court advocacy, safe housing partnerships, support groups, and safety planning.

Make a difference in your community by getting involved with SVA’s prevention efforts.

Whether you support SVA with your time, talent, or treasure, your partnership helps victims of domestic violence and their families in our community. Together, we can end domestic violence. Get connected by:
