Our Mission
The Southern Valley Alliance mission and vision is to assist victims of domestic violence and end domestic violence in the local community.
Our goals are to:
Empower individuals to reclaim control over their lives and stop abuse

Promote reporting of domestic violence and assist all affected family members
Educate individuals in our community to recognize and prevent violence at home
Our History
In the early 1980s, victims of domestic violence in Scott and Carver counties had nowhere to turn for help. To fill this void, a local woman who had experienced spousal abuse joined with community volunteers to raise awareness and offer support services. They established Southern Valley Alliance (SVA) in 1982.
Today, SVA continues to be the only nonprofit domestic violence agency located in Scott and Carver counties. Since its founding, the organization has assisted more than 24,000 women, men and children as they try to live healthy, violence-free lives.
